Certificate of Excellence Awarded for Plant Audit

Eastern Bay Concrete is a member of Concrete NZ Readymix Sector Group. Each year our plant is independently audited giving our team, our customers and our key stakeholders full assurance that our plant and systems are operating to industry leading quality standards.

The Plant Audit Scheme managed and run by Concrete NZ, reviews all Readymix Sector Group members each year for Concrete Production. The Scheme provides an independent and rigorous audit of the quality systems we have in place at our ready mixed concrete plant here in Opotiki.

This means that all concrete we produce at our plant meets these industry standards. In fact, our Certificate of Excellence is direct and visible recognition of the exceptionally high quality of our Opotiki ready mix concrete plant, of which we are all very proud.

This is a quality assurance stamp our customers and end-users can rely on too.

CRITERIA FOR PLANT AUDIT

For those who are interested, here is a more detailed summary of everything that is covered in the Plant Audit:

  • Compliance with NZS 3104:2003 Specification for Concrete Production (including amendments 1 & 2) and the relevant parts of related documents.
  • An appropriately qualified employee who carries out concrete testing at each plant.
  • A plant engineer who is either a chartered professional engineer or a registered engineering associate.
  • Properly maintained records, with the following original records retained on-site to provide an audit trail confirming the test records analysed are correct and complete:
  • the original day sheet compiled by the batcher showing each load sampled.
  • the original technician's record of tests carried out on samples referenced to the batch record.
  • the original summary of results forwarded to the plant engineer, referenced to the above test and batch reports.
  • an annual report from the plant engineer to the Committee (and at other times should they require it) on the performance of the plant, and quarterly reports on the frequency of sampling and testing of concrete.
  • on-site audits of plant performance by an Auditing Engineer appointed by the committee, without prior notice.
